Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act

Federal Policy Alert: Please take action and urge your senators and representative to support the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act (H.R. 549 / S. 663).

Update: 9/26/2023

One of TBCC’s and the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s (NBCC) highest legislative priorities this year is to enact the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act (MBCACA) to waive the 24 month waiting period for Medicare eligibility and the 5 month waiting period for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits for individuals with metastatic breast cancer who are already eligible to receive them.

During this arbitrary waiting period, individuals with metastatic breast cancer face incredible hardships in supporting themselves and their families and receiving the appropriate medical care that they desperately need. The average life expectancy  of an individual with metastatic breast cancer is 3 years. Too many  individuals with this disease die waiting for their benefits.

Progress is being made every day as advocates work to push the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act closer to passage. NOW we need our network of advocates to continue their efforts to gain support from our Wisconsin members of Congress who have not yet cosponsored the bill. It’s time to put the pressure on!

Action
Please call our Senators and Representatives in Congress on the list below, urging them to cosponsor the MBCACA. Each office keeps a tally on the number of calls received related to a specific bill. We need to make our voices heard loud and clear. We need YOUR voice! Please take ACTION today and throughout the week.
